We have a lot of new books in. Sono Nis Press in Winlaw has provided us with a nice array of titles, some new to the store and others that have proven popular in the past, such as Katherine Gordon’s “The Garden That You Are” and her award-winning “The Slocan: Portrait of a Valley,” as well as Rita Moir’s “The Third Crop,” which also paints a wonderful portrait of our beloved valley through the use of vintage photos.
A large shipment of books for both children and adults have arrived from Raincoast Books in Vancouver. Many of these new titles happen to have an animal theme. For kids there are those cute little finger puppet books that we have carried for some time now, but in five new titles. There is also a series using dinosaurs to teach the alphabet, colours, counting, and shapes. More mature readers might appreciate “Unusual Creatures: A Mostly Accurate Account of Some of Earth’s Strangest Animals” or the poignant and wonderfully-designed “A Letter to My Dog: Notes to Our Best Friends.”
